THEATRE
Theatre is the most primitive and most modern art. The basic situation of humans interacting and humans watching is eternal. However the conditions for theatre depends largely on a community, without a community theatre in a way would lose its purpose. The modern age greatly challenges what theatre can or cannot do. In the past ten, twenty years, changes in the internet, in filming technology seriously calls into question the efficacy and immediacy of theatre. At the same time in many parts of the world, theatre has become a bougeois form of art. Relying heavily on state funding and the attendance of high society and the elite classes, much of theatre has lost its potential to point to the essential elements in human experience that it was meant to do. Aporia Society started doing theatre with that aim in mind, and when it appeared that the local scene was not able to tolerate nor deserve the kind of work being put up, we switched our focus to film, a much more economically efficienty and able art form that can connect with so many more people.
